Tribute to Willem Breuker
6 February 2016
Aanvang: 20:30
As a tribute to Willem Breuker, who died over five years ago, the DKBB will perform a selection of his works in new arrangements by Maarten van Norden and Bernard Hunnekink.
With his enormous drive, Willem Breuker became an international figurehead for Dutch improvised music. His intense, inspired playing has touched many people all over the world. Special guest during this evening is drummer Rob Verdurmen, on whose flow the WBK has cruised for decades.
Additionally, the band will perform Maarten van Norden’s pulsating minimal-funk ‘La Fonque’ and Rodrigo Faina’s ‘Portrait of Two Cities’ with poetry by Julio Cortázar recited by trumpet soloist Felicity Provan and by tapdancer Peter Kuit!
And: finally the Donkey, the Painter and Teo Joling make their appearance, presenting ‘Ezeltje strek je, tafeltje dek je’…
Before and after the performance our DJ/VJ Peter Kok will share historical beauty with us all, and we will celebrate his birthday of the 5th!
